Many smokers, if you ask them, will tell you that they really want to quit. They know all about bad smoking effects and they surely don’t want to be a victim of them. Yoga Teacher Launches “Start Meditation, Stop Smoking” Program

“Don’t worry about your smoking habit, if you start meditating, it will disappear.” This is the advice of Dada Vedaprajinananda, a veteran yoga and meditation teacher who has just launched a new ebook entitled “Start Meditation, Stop Smoking.”

Dada, who has been practicing yoga for the past 35 years, explains that the first step to quitting smoking is to make a “firm determination” that you want to do something about your smoking habit.

“Firm determination is the first secret of success,” explains Dada, an American who learned yoga from Indian teachers and now teaches yoga and meditation in the Mediterranean countries. “While it is important to want to give up smoking, you shouldn’t worry about it,” Dada added.

Why do we smoke?

Why do we smoke, when we all know that it is not good for health? There are very many reasons to it but in this article we will ponder over the biggest reason in today’s times and that is to release STRESS. What is stress, can we remove it through smoking, if not then how can we remove it, lets talk a little in the light of these questions.

What is Stress?

What is Stress? Stress is the situation when we feel helpless, incapable to perform, not able to meet the deadlines and pressurized. Stress could be due to any reason, be it work pressure, differences at personal front, may be due to financial crisis, or it could be due to anything.

Can we remove it through smoking?

Can we remove it through smoking? Can we smoke away our blues in the air and relax? Perhaps the answer is in the negative. If I have to submit a report to my boss in an hour, which I know, is just impossible and I am thus nervous, will smoking a complete cigarette down my lungs make me build a ginnee of that smoke that will do some miracle for me. Perhaps that could have happened, but alas it is not so. Then why am I smoking, if it is doing no good to me?

Then what to do?

Then what should I do in a stressful situation? The answer is confront it. Face the problem and find a solution to it. As for in my case above I would have talked to my boss, for some more time to prepare the report or if that could not have been possible to, provide me with some helping hand. Thus in a nutshell it is only positive attitude and logical thinking that helps you come out of a crisis situation. That’s why it is rightly said that it’s your attitude and not your aptitude that decides your altitude.

Smoking not only does no good to us but it is bad for us, it thus does double harm to us. Smoking increases the chances of death due to lungs and breast cancer by a number of times. It wrecks the lungs during sports.

EMPLOYERS ENCOURAGED TO HELP EMPLOYEES MAKE A SMOOTH TRANSITION INTO COMPLIANCE WITH NEW NONSMOKING LAW

Phoenix, April 17, 2007 — Not much legislation has received as much buzz as the new nonsmoking law set to go into effect statewide in Arizona on May 1. Most news reports on the subject, however, have dealt with enforcement issues and potential legalities faced by employers who do not comply. Few have touched on the subject of how the law will affect smokers — employees and patrons — in the few remaining establishments that still permit smoking, namely bars and restaurants.

Valley hypnotherapist, Valerie Dawson, believes the time is perfect for those who have been considering giving up cigarettes for good to commit to it — and she has the perfect tool to make it easy and effortless.

"Most people know that by stopping smoking they will save thousands of dollars a year; they could add years to their life; and they could save their health before it’s too late," Dawson says. "They may disguise it a hundred different ways, but when it comes down to it, most people continue to smoke because of they fear that quitting is going to be too painful and difficult, Dawson explains. "Hypnotherapy can make all the difference."

Although the new law may ultimately affect everyone’s health for the better, employers in particular, can truly make a difference to their employees and themselves by encouraging their staff to take advantage of this opportunity to give up cigarettes for good. Otherwise, the 20-foot smoke-free buffer zone required by the new legislation could create longer smoking breaks, resulting in greater workflow interruption.

There has been much hoopla made about the 20-foot smoke-free zone going into effect around Arizona businesses. Have you decided to stop smoking? It doesn’t have to be hard! One of the keys for breaking the habit once and for all is to tap into the power of your mind. Here are some tips to help you succeed.

  1. Make quitting smoking your number one goal. Rather than having a long list of different goals, make quitting smoking your number-one top priority. By focusing on quitting smoking as your most important goal, you increase your chances of success.

  2. Keep the end result in mind. Focus on how much better your life will be as a non-smoker. Think about how you’ll be able to breathe better and your energy level will increase. Imagine all the things you can do with the money you’ll save each year by not purchasing cigarettes. And most importantly, focus on how you’ll add many; many healthy years to your life, so you can do all the things you’ve wanted to do, spending time with people you care about.   6. Flip off negative thoughts like a

My favorites: "I take care of health."; "I can handle this."; "I can do it!" Have a positive statement you can say to yourself throughout the day to keep you on track.

  7. Give yourself rewards. Why not have a quit jar and put all the money that you would have spent on cigarettes in it? You could save up for a tropical vacation or a down payment on that new sports car. Think of a nice reward to give yourself for being smoke free for one day, one week, one month, and so on! Mark them on your calendar so you have something to look forward to.

  8. Approach quitting with a "I can. I will. I
    must." attitude
    . If your child or loved one was burning in a building and you were the only one there to get them out, would you just
    "give it a try?" Would you simply "give it a shot?" Or would you "give it everything you’ve got?" Of course you would do anything and everything, whatever it took. Well, aren’t you worth the same? So approach quitting smoking with the same attitude, because
    you’re truly saving your own life – you’re worth it!

  9. Visualize your way to success. Every morning and evening, close your eyes for a few moments and rehearse in your mind how you will say "no" to any temptations to having a cigarette, and notice how good it feels to be in control of your triggers and urges. Also, picture and imagine yourself as a happy non-smoker for 3 to 5 minutes each day. See yourself as happy, healthy and active doing all the things you love to do.

  10. Learn to Manage Stress. Stress is everywhere, and while we think that cigarettes help us to relax, in reality, nicotine is a stimulant to the body. During the first few days of quitting, you will likely have thoughts to have a cigarette when you feel stressed. Learning to take long, deep breaths throughout the day can be a good start. If you can learn to tackle stress, you can tackle kicking the habit much more easily.

Using Hypnosis To Cure Bad Habits

Why can’t I cure my own bad habit?

If you have a bad habit - such as comfort eating, smoking or an addiction to gambling or alcohol, for example, then you can probably answer the question for yourself. A lot of us simply can’t kick a bad habit on our own - we tend to say that it’s because we don’t have the willpower to actually carry it through.

The fact is that any kind of bad habit takes hold of you both psychologically and physically.
